Solutions SK E-Card competition winner gets interviewed by Pure FM

Posted On: 06 Jan 2017

In December, we announced the winner of our E-Card competition out of 490 entries from 14 different schools across the Stockport borough.

After announcing Rachel Bowden, age 10 from Oaktree Primary School as the winner, she was invited to be interview on Pure FM’s, New Horizons show.

Rachel and her Mum went to Pure FM’s studio to be interviewed by Councillor June Somehk, a previous-Mayor of Stockport. June asked Rachel what motivated her to write such a moving poem and Rachel explained,

I just feel really lucky compared to refugees who have no homes, no family and no money.

To make the experience even more special, the interview was aired on Christmas morning.  To listen to the introduction of the competition click here and to listen to Rachel’s interview please click here

As the winner, Rachel received:

  • A personal letter from the Mayor of Stockport who invited Rachel to have afternoon tea at his parlour which she attended in January
  • The e-card sent out to all schools and councillors in Stockport
  • The design was also published in the Stockport Express
