Totally Local Company – Celebrating International Women’s Day

Today at Totally Local Company we are celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD), in advance of the official date tomorrow on Saturday 8th March 2025. This is a global occasion to recognise and celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

It is also a call to action for accelerating gender equality. This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, encourages individuals and organisations to drive progress and create meaningful change for women and girls worldwide.

With a history spanning over a century, International Women’s Day has been a platform for advocating women’s rights since its first gathering in 1911, which was supported by over a million people. Today, the movement continues to inspire and unite communities across the globe in pursuit of equality.

At Totally Local Company, we are proud to celebrate the incredible contributions of the women within our workforce. Women make up approximately 37% of our team, playing vital roles across all our service areas. Their dedication and expertise support residents, communities, and businesses throughout Stockport Borough.

Our female employees are integral to our success across various departments, including:

Commercial Cleaning, School Catering Services, Street Care, Greenspace and Parks and Grounds Maintenance, Senior Management, Human Resources (HR), Finance, and Administration, Commercial and Residential Waste Management, Street Lighting, Highways, and Fleet Services.

• Promoting creative and artistic talent among women and girls
• Implementing policies that advance the rights and opportunities of women and girls
