Streetlighting Congratulations

Our TLC awards success keeps on coming! Hot on the heels of our two award-winning parks – it is now the turn of our Streetlighting team to take a bow….

Huge Shout Out to our Streetlighting team for their work on the award-winning Bramhall Park to A6 walking and cycling scheme.

We’re proud that our work, on behalf of SMBC and in partnership with George Cox and Sons, won ‘Active Travel Scheme of the Year’ at the Highways Awards (Highways Magazine) recently.

Our Streetlighting team added a staggering 80 new lighting columns to the two and a half mile stretch. They also moved and refurbished a number of columns displaced following the widening of the path (by George Cox and Sons – who did this, and so much more).

In addition, our team installed and commissioned 10 zebra crossing poles – on five new zebra crossing constructions.

This scheme really fits in with our Safety-first priority as a business and is encouraging people to put health-first too. The path now links residential areas with schools, parks and a leisure centre. The well-lit, widened path is now ideal for both cyclists and walkers.

To minimise disruption – this work was done in seven slots over a period of 18 months.

Well done to everyone in our Streetlighting team involved in this award-winning work, already making a huge difference to the people of Bramhall.
