Stockport Mayor visits Solutions SK Parks teams

Posted On: 28 Mar 2017

The parks across Stockport receive great praise from the local public.  These outdoor spaces are a huge part of our community, serving as a different purpose to different people across the borough; a place to go to relax, to exercise, and to get together with family and friends. To make all those things possible, our Park team travel across Stockport maintaining the parks on a daily basis, 352 days a year, no matter what the weather.

In March 2017, Mayor of Stockport, Chris Gordon joined the Solutions SK Parks teams at 7.30am to thank them for all of their hard work and wish them well as they started their day.  The ‘meet and greet’ was organised as an official thank you to recognise the work they across Stockport.

This event was a follow-up to a similar meeting in December 2016 during which the Mayor met with the Streetcare team as they started their morning shift at 5.45am.

Managing Director of Solutions SK, Stephen Morris, explains

The sun is finally back out which means for many people it’s time to get back outdoors and enjoy the parks.  It’s our parks’ team job to ensure the park has fresh flowers, cut grass, unblocked drains, cut hedges; the list is endless. Our people work incredibly hard and because they do such a good job, it’s sometimes easy to take the work they do for granted.  Having the Mayor visit this team, and the Streetcare team in December, was a great opportunity to give them the recognition they deserve.

Mayor of Stockport, Chris Gordon, said after the meeting,

It has been a delight to come and see the various teams over the last couple of months. This is the best part of the Mayor’s job, coming to visit and thank the staff who look after the town’s environment so well, and which is rarely noticed by the public until there is a problem.
