Totally Local Company is thrilled to unveil our refreshed Spring/Summer 2025 school menu plans, created in partnership with Pro Veg UK’s School Plates Programme. This collaboration brings sustainable, delicious, and nutritious food choices that are designed to delight students, support their health, and help protect our planet. Our new Food Development Chef, Rebecca Sly, has been busy working closely with Pro Veg UK over the past few months to create a menu that is both appealing and environmentally friendly. We’re excited for students to experience these tasty and eco-conscious meals in the upcoming school term!

This partnership reflects our dedication to making school dining enjoyable, nutritious, and environmentally friendly.

What’s Changing? Here’s What to Expect:

  • A Focus on Plant-Powered and Planet-Friendly Choices

Our menus now shine a spotlight on vibrant, plant-powered and planet friendly dishes packed with energy and nutrients to keep students engaged and active throughout their school day. These hearty, plant-forward options are full of fresh flavours that students will love.

  • Look for the Globe Icon!

Introducing our new Planet-Friendly options, easily identified on menus by a globe icon. These dishes are part of our commitment to sustainable dining that promotes both student well-being and global health.

  • Enticing, Positive Menu Language

We’ve crafted inviting descriptions for each dish, encouraging students to try new foods, embrace variety, and develop positive eating habits that will benefit them for a lifetime.

  • Planet-Friendly Pizza & Pasta Monday

Mondays just got better! Students can look forward to delicious, planet-friendly pizza and pasta options featuring wholesome plant-based ingredients. These dishes are nutritious, flavourful, and a simple way to make school dining more sustainable.

Why Planet-Friendly Mondays Matter?

Introducing a plant-powered day every week is a powerful step toward sustainable eating. Here’s how it benefits both students and the planet:

  • Environmental Impact: Reducing animal-based ingredients conserves water and energy while cutting carbon emissions, helping schools contribute to a healthier planet.
  • Positive Food Habits: Students develop a sense of adventure in their eating, learning the importance of mindful and sustainable choices.

Celebrating Our Bronze Award from Pro Veg UK

We’re delighted to share that Totally Local Company has been awarded a Bronze Award by Pro Veg UK for our efforts in bringing sustainable, plant-based options to schools. This recognition highlights our commitment to providing students with balanced, planet-friendly meals that are as good for their health as they are for the environment. This achievement is the result of months of hard work by our new Food Development Chef, Rebecca Sly, who has been collaborating closely with Pro Veg UK to craft innovative and delicious plant-based menu options for schools. We’re proud of this milestone and excited to continue promoting healthier, more sustainable food choices for students!

Announcing Project Green Genius!

In the spring, we’re launching Project Green Genius, an exciting initiative where students will have the chance to create their very own plant-powered, planet-friendly dish. The winning recipe will feature on our Autumn 2025 menus! This is a fantastic opportunity for students to express their creativity, explore new flavours, and make a meaningful contribution to sustainable school dining.
