Christmas Tree Installations and Festive Lighting

The festive season in Stockport wouldn’t be the same without the stunning displays of Christmas trees and festive lighting that brighten our borough.

Each year, our dedicated technical teams in Street Lighting, in collaboration with our Grounds Maintenance team, take on the monumental task of planning, installing, and illuminating Stockport’s festive displays.

This year, their efforts have been nothing short of extraordinary. From the initial planning stages to the final switch-ons, the teams have worked tirelessly to bring holiday cheer to our community. Their work ensures that all installations are ready in time for the much-anticipated community light switch-on events that kick off the season.

A Collaborative Effort

Behind every lit tree and glowing column is a significant amount of planning and teamwork. Our technicians and back-office teams have worked closely with Grounds Maintenance to strategically install 45 Christmas trees across the borough. These trees serve as focal points for local celebrations, and the coordinated effort between departments has ensured a seamless rollout of festive decorations.

In addition to the trees, the Street Lighting team installs an impressive array of festive lights.

• 463 LED Christmas motifs on lighting columns.
• Illuminating 45 Christmas trees, including the magnificent Town Centre tree.
• Lighting up 2 Cribs to add a traditional touch to the festive decorations.

These efforts have transformed Stockport into a sparkling wonderland, spreading joy to residents and visitors alike.

A Special Touch for the Community

The teams’ dedication extends beyond the borough.

Each year, the Street Lighting team installs lights on the towering Christmas Tree at St Ann’s Hospice in Little Hulton, using specialised equipment to ensure the work is done safely. This heartfelt contribution supports the hospice’s vital work and adds to the festive spirit.
