Totally Local Company Inspired to Work in Partnership with Fareshare Greater Manchester and Stockport Food Partnership
On Wednesday 6 November our Catering team colleagues met with Fareshare Greater Manchester and Stockport Food Partnership which gave them an opportunity to discuss sustainability, food waste reduction, and ways of giving back to the community with likeminded organisations.
Discovering the Impact of Fareshare Greater Manchester
Rebecca Sly, Food Development Chef, and Jayne Stubbs, Schools Catering Manager, who are both part of our Catering Management Team, visited Fareshare Greater Manchester, where they were welcomed by Karina, Ruth, and their team. They shared details about their invaluable work in redistributing surplus food to local charities and community organisations. Through these efforts, Fareshare helps reduce food waste while addressing food poverty in the community.
Jayne, and Rebecca are excited to explore ways they can collaborate with Fareshare, focusing on sustainable catering practices that reduce food waste and support local communities. At Totally Local Company, we’re committed to finding solutions that not only provide healthy, sustainable food but also benefit the wider community.
Engaging with the Stockport Food Partnership
In the afternoon, Rebecca attended her first Stockport Food Partnership networking event. Since its inception in 2022, the Partnership has brought together a diverse group of individuals and organisations working to build a more sustainable and resilient food system. With a guiding steering group and action-driven workshops, the Partnership is creating real change in Stockport and beyond – and we are proud to now be a part of this partnership.
The event focused on key areas like community food education, reducing food waste from businesses, and food policy, which resonate with the values Rebecca and Jayne champion through their work on school food services. They were inspired by the shared commitment to sustainability and are eager to contribute to these efforts through their role in shaping healthy, sustainable school meals for the local community.
Looking to the Future
Rebecca Sly, said, “Both experiences have reinforced the importance of collaboration and community-driven initiatives in creating lasting positive change. Jayne and I are excited about the potential to work with organisations like Fareshare and be part of the Stockport Food Partnership to further our goals of reducing food waste, promoting healthy eating, and making a meaningful impact on local communities, especially through our work in schools”.
We would like to thank Fareshare Greater Manchester and the Stockport Food Partnership teams for their hospitality, inspiration, and the incredible work they do every day.
Jayne, Rebecca and our entire Catering Management team look forward to building on these connections and contributing to a sustainable future.
