Catering Champion – Suzanne
We’d like to introduce you to another of our Catering Champions; LACA award-winner Suzanne.
Congratulations to Suzanne who reaches her 20th anniversary of working at Ladybrook Primary School in Bramhall this month.
Suzanne was previously a PA to the MD of a Manchester business before looking to switch to a role that would fit in with her childcare needs at the time. She shares that she pretty much fell into the General Assistant (GA) role at Ladybrook, hearing about it from the sister-in-law of a friend (who worked for us as a Cook).
She worked in the GA role, supporting a husband and wife team, until they retired five years ago. She then applied and was successfully interviewed for the Cook in Charge role.
Suzanne loves it at Ladybrook and has never worked in another school – other than supporting the Oak Tree Hub in lockdown. Everyone who worked at this Hub did a fantastic job providing parcels of food for vulnerable children at a difficult time.
Suzanne and her GA Mel provide over 140 meals each day at the school. Numbers have been steadily rising since covid which Suzanne believes relates to the good value that the meals provide (and more).
Over the last couple of years, the lunch break has become more structured at Ladybrook with the children now coming in for meals in rotation – three classes at a time.
Outside of work Suzanne runs Cake My Day – a registered home cake decorating business where she makes bespoke celebration cakes and cupcakes (https://twitter.com/Cakemydayby). These skills saw her win Best In Class for TLC and Ladybrook at the LACA Main Event and School Food Show in October 2021 with the pictured cake.
We’re proud of Suzanne’s move from GA to Cook, her LACA win and of course all her work at Ladybrook – along with all our teams who support our schools – from Commercial Cleaning to Greenspace & Treeworks and from Commercial Waste to Catering.
